Regina Elizabeth Woronowicz

May 28, 1923 — July 22, 2020

Regina Elizabeth Woronowicz, Jean, transitioned peacefully in her family's presence at her home on July 22, 2020. She was 97 years young!

Born May 28, 1923 in Sugar Notch and moving to Pringle at a young age she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Alexandria Szortyka.

Taking residency in Plains after marriage, Regina was a devoted wife to her late husband, Alfred. She was a fantastic mother of four, raising her nephew as her child, and grandmother of five of whom she would proudly speak.

Regina enjoyed traveling, especially with her good friend Dorothy Lutinski. They would share their adventure stories with everyone.

Regina has reunited with her husband, Alfred, grandson, Joshua Woronowicz, sisters, Cecelia Gender and Helen Boksha, and brother, Peter Barnowski.

Regina, and her jokes, will be greatly missed by her children, Alicia Lopez of Texas, Robert Woronowicz and his wife Mary Ellen Mullen of Washington, Phyllis and her husband John Sinavage of Plains, Leo and his wife Shirley Woronowicz of Texas; nephew, Albert and his wife Judy Gender of Virginia; grandchildren, Jonathan and his wife Zora Lopez of Germany, Regina Woronowicz and her fiancé Maik Guehne of Germany, Roberta Woronowicz and her husband Frank Arnold of North Carolina, and Dusty and his wife Wendy Woronowicz of Texas; brother, Stanley Szortyka of Reading; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Regina's entire family extends special thanks to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, especially Darleen Casey and staff for their support, care, and understanding, Trina Malhotra, her supportive caregiver, and Laila, her 'adopted' great-granddaughter who always brought smiles and laughter to her.

Celebration of Regina's Life will be on Monday, July 27, 2020 with visitation beginning at 9 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM in the Church of the Parish of Our Lady of Hope, 40 Park Avenue in Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery.
