John Bruce Van Horn, 69, of Dallas died Tuesday, May 4, 2010.
Born February 16, 1941 in Plymouth he was a son of the late Robert E. and Rachel Van Horn.
A graduate of Wyoming Seminary Preparatory School, John attended the United States Naval Academy and earned his bachelors degree from the University of Scranton.
A decorated veteran, Mr. Van Horn served as a Captain during the Vietnam Era in both Korea and Vietnam.
Following his military service, John worked for Bell Laboratories for twenty years before returning to Dallas, where he worked for Offset Paperback.
John was a member of Grace Community Church in Dallas and was an active member of the National Rifle Association and several veterans groups.
His brother, Robert Ray Van Horn preceded him in death.
Surviving are a niece, Laura Van Horn-Simone and nephew, John E. Van Horn.
Celebration of John’s Life will be held Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 9 AM in Grace Community Church, Memorial Highway, Dallas. Interment will be in Mount Greenwood Cemetery in Shavertown.
