Guy Rothery

Guy Rothery, 90, of Wilkes-Barre died Monday, May 15th.

Born May 28, 1926 in Luzerne he was a son of the late George Guy and Laura Charnetski Rothery.

Guy enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944 and served for more than two years during World War II. Later, as a member of the Naval Reserve, he was again called to active duty during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Rothery managed and owned The Spinning Wheel restaurant for more than sixty years before retiring.

Guy was a member of the Parish of Saint Robert Bellarmine and communicant at the Church of Saint Aloysius. He was an active member of the American Legion, VFW, Korean War Vets, AMVETS, and Bishop William J. Hafey Assembly, Fourth Degree, Knights of Columbus Council 984.

His first wife, Gloria Deutsch Rothery, and sister, Laura Kutz preceded him in death.

Guy will be greatly missed by his wife, the former Patricia Hudak Prawdzik; children, Pamela and her husband Dale Rapson of Wilkes-Barre, Cynthia and her husband Roy McKinley of Florida, and Guy F. and his wife Tina Rothery of Bear Creek Village; grandchildren, Amber, Alicia, Dale, Brynne, Kaitlyn, Arielle and Guy; four great-grandchildren; step-children, Robert Prawdzik of Florida, Mary Beth and her husband Tim Johnson of Maryland, Jeff Prawdzik and Kim Fath of Birdsboro, and Amy and her husband Tom Olex of Mountain Top; step-grandchildren, Mackenzie, David, Kyleigh and Emily; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Celebration of Guy’s Life will begin Thursday with visitation from 5 to 7 PM at McLaughlin’s, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre and continue there on Friday with gathering at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in the Church of Saint Aloysius. Interment will be in Saint Mary’s Cemetery.

Memorial donations are preferred and may be made to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
