Charles V. Zajaczkowski

Charles V. ‘Kaz’ Zajaczkowski, 90, of Wilkes-Barre died Sunday at Celtic Hospice.

Born December 3, 1926 in Wilkes-Barre he was a son of the late Charles V. and Anna Mazurkiewicz Zajaczkowski.

Kaz left high school early to enlist in the Navy. He was a veteran of World War II.

A plasterer by trade, Kaz retired as a plaster foreman after many years with Culp Brothers of Kingston.

A member of the Parish of Saints Peter and Paul in Plains, he was a former member of the VFW.

Kaz was an enthusiastic golfer and fisherman. He loved his grandchildren, and enjoyed spending time in Florida.

His wife, the former Alma Mae 'Mickey' Steger, died February 12, 2014. A sister, Violet Polachek also preceded him in death.

Kaz will be greatly missed by his daughters, Diane and her husband Bill Eydler of Wilkes-Barre and Tina and her husband Carl Lisman of Yardley; grandchildren, Abby and her husband Chris Loftus, David and his wife Val Lisman and Michelle and her husband John Newdeck; great-grandchildren, Patrick and Lexy; sister, Stella and her husband Anthony Szymanski; brother, Edward and his wife Charlotte Zajaczkowski; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Celebration of Kaz’s Life will be held Tuesday with visitation from 10 to 10:50 AM in the Church of Saints Peter and Paul, Hudson Road in Plains followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM. Interment will be in Saint Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery.

Memorial donations are preferred and may be made to Saints Peter and Paul Food Pantry or Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge.
