Barbara L. Martin

Barbara Ann Lapinski Martin, 69, who resided in Wilkes-Barre with her husband of thirty-eight years, James J. Martin, Jr and a former resident of Italy Street in Mocanaqua died Tuesday at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.

Born June 17, 1940 she was a daughter of the late John and Anna Michaloski Lapinski.

Barbara worked for Commonwealth Telephone Company for thirty-five years and then joined her husband in the operation of HEI Window Tinting & Fashions for eight years before retiring.

Barbara was a member of Saint Aloysius Parish where she and Jim were active with various committees. She was also a member and officer of the Wilkes-Barre Knights of Columbus Council 302 KayCees and West Side Junior Womens Club. Barbara was a founding member and membership director of Wilkes-Barre Womens Organization for Networking.

Surviving in addition to her husband are her sister, Sandra Sharkoski Federici and her husband Thomas of Mocanaqua, niece, Jennifer Thomas and her husband James of Forty Fort, nephew, William Sharkoski, III and his wife Hilari of Bradenton, Florida, aunt, Alice Mazurowski of Monrovia, Maryland, sisters-in-law, Nancy Lynn and her husband Daniel of Kingston and Jacquelyn Cegelka and her husband Jerome of West Wyoming; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Celebration of Barbara’s Life will be held Friday at 9:30 AM from McLaughlin's Family Funeral Service, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre with Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in Church of Saint Aloysius. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 5 to 8 PM at McLaughlin’s.
