Alice C. Collins, 90, of Edwardsville died Tuesday at Little Flower Manor.

Born 07 June 1918 in Nanticoke she was a daughter of the late Charles A. and Elizabeth Gallagher Collins.

Alice was employed by National Catholic Community Services which assigned her to serve in various positions with the USO in several states and the cities of Paris, Rome and Washington, D.C. before retiring. Throughout her career, she was Director of Field Services for Worldwide USO in which capacity she traveled extensively. Ms. Collins was also the Executive Director of National Catholic Community Services; the first woman to serve in that position.

In earlier years, Alice was a member of the staff of the Catholic Youth Center of Wyoming Valley.

In 1979, His Holiness, Pope John Paul II awarded the Pro Eacalii to Ms. Collins.

Alice was a member of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception Parish, Wilkes-Barre Quota Club and United Way PARD Committees. With the American Red Cross, Alice was a member of the Board of Directors and the Service to Military Families Department where she was a committee member and volunteer duty worker.

Sisters, Ann Marie Clarke, Catherine Leonard and Elizabeth Mulhern preceded her in death.

Surviving are:
sisters: Joan Eagen of Elmira, New York and Elayne Lehman of Stroudsburg
brothers: Charles Collins of Harvey's Lake and Robert Collins of Mendham, New Jersey
many nieces and nephews, including Jeanne Mulcahy of Forty Fort and Brian W. Leonard of Wilkes-Barre and her special caregiver, Sandy Yatko

Funeral will be held Saturday at 10:00 AM from M.J. McLaughlin Family Funeral Service 142 South Washington Street Wilkes-Barre with Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM in Saint Mary Of The Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.

Friends may call Saturday 9 to 10 AM.
