Gregory Scott Najder

The family of Gregory Scott Najder of Moosic is grieved to announce his sudden passing on June 15, 2018 at Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton.

He is survived by his most beloved daughter, Ayla Walker-Najder, Wilkes-Barre and his very loving fiancé, Colleen Krispin, Moosic. Also surviving are his mother, Eleanor Najder of Rochester, NY and his brother Kenneth Najder, New Orleans, LA, along with niece, Katie and nephew, Drew.

Greg was born in Rochester, NY on March 4, 1959, son of Leonard Najder, who preceded him in death in 1996, and mother, Eleanor.

Greg was a graduate of the Culinary Arts Program of Monroe Community College, Rochester NY. Cooking was his passion, and he worked in both the restaurant and health care fields as an accomplished chef. His most recent positions, up until his sudden illness, were at the Iron Skillet Restaurant in Avoca, PA as well as part-time chef for the Jesuit Community of Scranton. He was deeply appreciated for his talents, professionalism and caring attitude toward the people he worked for and with.

Greg’s love for hunting and fishing was only surpassed by his love of gardening. These were hobbies and passions he shared with his daughter, Ayla, as well as with friends and relatives. These and the memories of his beautiful meals will forever remain alive in the hearts of loved ones he leaves behind. We will cherish the heart he shared with us, that was ever fun-loving, that was so connected to nature, food and celebration. He was deeply philosophical on matters of the nature of life, though most often these were kept for his own quiet ponderings in the woods and waters of the beautiful world he always appreciated. Greg is truly the person who will be seen in the days and years to come, when we encounter a beautiful garden or an exotic flower, when we see a sunset over water, or a boat skimming across a lake looking for the next big catch.

He will be deeply and painfully missed, but will forever live on in our hearts and memories of the good times.
